The magical feeling surrounding these tiny birds is overwhelming. They never fail to bring a smile to your face, even when you see them every day. The superb fairywren has adapted to humans encroaching on its habitat and is considered ‘least concern’ meaning their numbers are stable. Still, these beautiful little birds deserve to be celebrated.
This painting is made on recycled mdf board saved from the landfill. I used acrylic paint and modelling paste to lift the fairywren off the board and create a slight 3d effect. The blue bits are painted over with acrylic metallic paint to sparkle as they do in real life.
