This is a Splendid fairywren (Malurus splendens) female. She landed on a chain-link fence right in front of me, puffed up, spread out her tail and flew off. It happened so fast but i can still see her so clearly. I had to paint her.
Splendid fairywren is listed as least concern and is doing quite well.
The painting is made on mdf board saved from going to landfill. I used modelling paste to create a bit of a 3d effect and acrylic paint. The tail is painted with metallic acrylic paint.
